Biswanath, January 26, 2024 – In Bishwanath, the grand celebration of the 75th Republic Day was orchestrated by the District Administration at Kachari Maidan. The day unfolded with the National Flag unfurling at 7:00 am, adorning residences, followed by ceremonies at 8:00 am in diverse governmental, semi-governmental, and non-governmental entities, including educational institutions and various establishments.
A touching moment transpired at 8:50 am near Kachari Maidan, at the “Cheniram Das Children’s Park,” where homage was paid to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. The focal event kicked off at 9:00 am, featuring Chief Guest and District Commissioner Dr. Neha Yadav hoisting the National Flag, inaugurating the Republic Day parade.
A standout feature of the celebration was the special recognition accorded to Gopal Nag, an emerging farmer celebrated for his resilience and determination. Despite losing his legs in a road accident, Gopal Nag achieved self-sufficiency in various agricultural activities since 2018. District Commissioner Dr. Neha Yadav presented him with a letter of appreciation, a Gamocha (traditional Assamese scarf), and a package of agricultural equipment.
To infuse a sporting spirit into the Republic Day festivities, a friendly cricket match between Bishwanath District Administration XI and Bishwanath District Sports Association XI is scheduled at 2:00 pm.
