Biswanath Police Seize Marijuana, Arrest Two Smugglers in Special Operation
Biswanath, August 10, 2024: In a significant anti-narcotics operation, the Biswanath district police conducted a successful raid, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of marijuana and the arrest of two suspected smugglers. The operation took place near the Sadaru Tea Estate in Biswanath on Saturday morning.
The suspects, identified as Asif Khan and Shakir Ali, were reportedly transporting approximately 8 kg of marijuana on a scooty bearing the registration number AS 27 G 4415. According to police sources, the duo was en route from Majbat to Biswanath when the special operation team intercepted them.
Upon spotting the police, the two men abandoned the scooty and attempted to escape into a nearby tea garden. However, the raiding team quickly pursued and apprehended them. The police are currently interrogating the suspects to gather further information regarding the source of the contraband and the network involved in its distribution.
