Heralding a New Era of Growth: Assam Unveils Ambitious Welfare Projects and Infrastructure Initiatives
Guwahati, August 10, 2024: The government of Assam has rolled out a comprehensive array of welfare projects, schemes, and infrastructure initiatives across multiple departments, signifying a new era of growth and development in the state. These initiatives span the Health, Power, Home & Political, Revenue & Disaster Management, and Sports & Youth Welfare departments, aiming to enhance the quality of life and drive economic progress.
The Health Department has introduced several key programs:
1. Assam Arogya Nidhi – With a total project cost of ₹10 crore, this initiative seeks to provide financial assistance for medical treatment.
2. One-Time Gratitude Benefit for ASHA & ASHA Supervisors – A ₹9.42 crore project designed to recognize the contributions of frontline health workers.
3. Compensation of Wages to Pregnant Women Workers (Tea Gardens) – This ₹11 crore project supports pregnant women working in tea gardens by compensating their wages.
4. Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) – Aimed at improving dialysis services, this program is set with a budget of ₹13.32 crore.
5. Mobile Medical Units – An initiative to provide healthcare to remote areas, with a total cost of ₹13.66 crore.
6. Bio-Medical Equipment Maintenance Programme (BMEMP) – A ₹17 crore project for maintaining medical equipment in health facilities.
7. Sanjibani – Village Outreach Programme – This extensive outreach program has been allocated ₹20.16 crore to bring healthcare services to rural areas.
8. Snehasparsha – Health Care Initiative – A ₹10 crore project focused on providing specialized healthcare services.
9. Susrusha Scheme – Another significant project with a budget of ₹10 crore, aiming to improve health services.
The Power Department has also launched several significant infrastructure projects:
1. Augmentation of the Existing 132 KV Bus at 132/33 KV Kahilipara, GSS – This project, costing ₹9.63 crore, aims to enhance the power infrastructure.
2. Technical Upgradation of KLHEP Plant – A ₹10 crore initiative for upgrading the KLHEP plant to boost power generation capacity.
3. Infrastructure Development for Renewable Energy Projects (APGCL) – With a budget of ₹10 crore, this project focuses on developing infrastructure for renewable energy.
4. Online Transformer Conditioning Monitoring – A ₹9.5 crore project to implement online monitoring of transformers to ensure reliable power supply.
5. 2 MW Solar Power Project – This ₹9 crore project will establish a solar power plant, contributing to Assam’s renewable energy goals.
The Home & Political Department has initiated:
1. Procurement of 142 Bolero B4 BS6 Vehicles – These vehicles, procured at a cost of ₹12.89 crore, are intended for the Assam Police Emergency Management System (APEMS) – Dial 112, enhancing law enforcement capabilities.
The department has launched:
1. Procurement of Bailey Bridges and Infrastructure Projects – A crucial initiative with a total project cost of ₹27 crore, focusing on enhancing disaster management infrastructure.
The Sports & Youth Welfare Department has announced:
1. Setting up of Youth Clubs across all LACs in Assam – This initiative, costing ₹16 crore, aims to foster youth engagement and development through the establishment of youth clubs across the state.
These projects represent a strategic effort by the Assam government to accelerate growth, improve public services, and ensure sustainable development across the state.
