Transforming Agriculture through AgriStack: A Digital Leap for Assam’s Farmers
Guwahati, August 11, 2024: Assam is taking a significant leap in agriculture with the AgriStack initiative. This digital infrastructure aims to modernize the state’s farming sector by creating three foundational registries: Farmland, Crops Sown, and Farmers. The initiative integrates geo-referenced village maps and a Digital Crop Survey (DCS) for accurate data collection and efficient management.
Under this program, farmers will receive a unique Farmer ID linked with Aadhaar. This ID will grant them easy access to government schemes, markets, inputs, and advisory services, thereby streamlining their agricultural activities.
The Digital Crop Survey (DCS) for Kharif 2024 will run from 16th August to 30th September 2024. To ensure precise data collection, survey teams will undergo comprehensive training, with a strong emphasis on digital tools.
For resource planning, a large workforce of surveyors, supervisors, and verifiers will be mobilized across 29 districts. These workers will receive incentives based on the number of agricultural plots they survey.
In the Farm Land Registry component, state RoR (Record of Rights) data will be integrated with geospatial maps, facilitating precise land registration and management.
The Farmers’ Registry will create a centralized database, with pilot projects beginning in Morigaon and Darrang. This registry is set to expand statewide by 31st October 2024.
Additionally, the initiative will bolster the PM-KISAN scheme by increasing farmer enrollment. Continuous efforts will be made to ensure more farmers receive direct benefit transfers under the scheme.
This digital push through AgriStack is set to transform the agricultural landscape of Assam, empowering farmers with technology and improved access to resources.
