Guwahati Police Foils Cattle Smuggling Attempt at Jorabat; One Arrested
Guwahati, August 16, 2024: In a significant operation today morning, a team from the Jorabat Outpost under the East Guwahati Police District intercepted a vehicle at the Jorabat crossing. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS 21 AC 2814, was found to be illegally transporting 12 live cattle, reportedly en route to Meghalaya. This interception highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal cattle smuggling in the region.
The police arrested Muklesh Ali, a 40-year-old resident of Mikirbheta, in connection with the smuggling attempt. Authorities are investigating the incident to uncover any broader network involved.
