STF in Assam Busts Fake Currency Operation; Three Arrested with Cash and Mobile Phones
Guwahati, August 20, 2024: In a significant operation by the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam, a raid was conducted in Khanapara under Basistha Police Station’s jurisdiction. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals: Sahil Ali (26), Ajoy Biswakarma (30), and Sumi Bora (24). The STF recovered fake Indian currency notes (FICN) valued at Rs. 8,32,500, along with Rs. 1,28,320 in cash and four mobile handsets from their possession.
The raid also resulted in the seizure of a Baleno vehicle, registered under number AS 01 FZ 5860. The authorities are now investigating the source and intended use of the counterfeit money and other items.
This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the STF to combat illegal activities in the region. The arrest and confiscations are expected to disrupt counterfeit currency networks and enhance security measures in Assam.
