BJP Announces Rameswar Teli and Mission Ranjan Das as Rajya Sabha Candidates from Assam
Guwahati, August 20, 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially named its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Assam. Rameswar Teli and Mission Ranjan Das will contest for the two available seats.
Rameswar Teli, a seasoned politician and former MLA from Duliajan, will represent the BJP. He has previously served as the Minister of State (MoS) for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Labour and Employment in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second term.
Mission Ranjan Das, another veteran politician, is a four-time former legislator from North Karimganj. His extensive experience in state politics makes him a significant contender.
The Rajya Sabha election is scheduled for September 3. These seats became vacant after the 18th Lok Sabha elections. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, who previously occupied these positions, have moved on.
The BJP’s nominations reflect its strategic choices in Assam’s political landscape, aiming to consolidate its influence in the Rajya Sabha.
