Orunodoi 3.0: Strengthening Nari Shakti in Assam with Expanded Financial Aid
Guwahati August 22, 2024: In a move to further empower women across Assam, the state cabinet has approved the launch of Orunodoi 3.0, an expanded phase of its flagship welfare scheme. With this new phase, the coverage of the Orunodoi scheme is set to increase by over 12 lakh additional beneficiaries, bringing the total to 37 lakh. This expansion underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening Nari Shakti through targeted financial assistance.
To be eligible for Orunodoi 3.0, beneficiaries must have an Aadhaar-seeded ration card. Each beneficiary will receive a monthly assistance of ₹1,250. In addition to this financial aid, the scheme also includes insurance coverage through the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), ensuring comprehensive support for women and their families.
The selection of beneficiaries will be conducted by the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC), with the process set to begin on 15 September 2024. This systematic approach ensures that the benefits reach those who need them most.
Moreover, to enhance the efficiency of the scheme, the government plans to establish a dedicated helpline and grievance redressal mechanism. This will help address any issues faced by beneficiaries, ensuring smooth access to the scheme’s benefits.
Orunodoi 3.0 is not just an expansion of an existing scheme; it is a significant step towards reinforcing the economic security and empowerment of women in Assam, reflecting the state’s ongoing dedication to Nari Shakti.
