Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Assam Traps Lot Mandal for Accepting Bribe in Tinsukia
Guwahati, August 29, 2024: In a significant operation, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, apprehended Jukheswar Moran, a Lot Mandal at the Circle Officer’s office in Doomdooma, Tinsukia district. The accused was caught red-handed after accepting a bribe of Rs. 15,000 from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly demanded by Moran in connection with mutation-related works, which are essential for transferring property ownership.
The operation was executed following a detailed complaint lodged by an aggrieved citizen who was asked to pay the bribe to expedite his mutation process. The Vigilance team laid a trap at the Circle Officer’s office, ensuring that all protocols were followed. Upon the exchange of the bribe money, Moran was immediately apprehended, and the money was recovered from his possession as evidence.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts by the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, to crack down on corruption within government offices. The arrest of a government official involved in bribery underscores the state’s commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in public service.
