Hatsingimari, January 20, 2024 – In a relentless battle against illicit activities, sugar smuggling to Bangladesh via river routes continues unabated, with smugglers employing increasingly sophisticated tactics to evade authorities. Despite the Border Security Force’s (BSF) recent operation seizing a significant quantity of smuggled sugar along with two boats, the perpetrators managed a daring escape.
The daring raid unfolded along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Shishumara Boreralga, situated in the South Salmara Mankachar District. Acting on precise intelligence, BSF personnel intercepted two boats loaded with contraband sugar. While the BSF successfully seized the illicit sugar and the boats, the audacious smugglers executed a swift escape, leaving authorities grappling with the challenges posed by their elusive tactics.
A total of 228 sacks of smuggled sugar were confiscated during the operation, underscoring the persistent nature of cross-border smuggling activities. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle authorities face in curbing these illegal operations. The BSF’s unwavering commitment to tackling such challenges is evident, yet it is clear that a more robust and innovative approach is imperative to stay ahead of these resourceful smugglers.
