STF Assam Seizes Fake Currency Worth ₹7.19 Lakh, Arrests 3 in Paltan Bazar Operation
Guwahati, September 06, 2024: Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam launched an operation against a fake currency racket in Paltan Bazar under Paltan Bazar Police Station. During the operation, authorities apprehended three suspects involved in the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN).
As part of the follow-up search in the Basistha area, officials recovered a total of ₹7.19 lakh in counterfeit currency. The seized notes included 1,438 pieces of ₹500 denominations. In addition to the fake notes, two vehicles were impounded, five mobile phones were confiscated, and a cash amount of ₹15,000 was recovered.
The STF’s operation highlights the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of counterfeit currency in Assam. These arrests are part of a broader initiative by law enforcement to crack down on illegal activities in the region. The investigation is ongoing, and further developments are expected.
