Cachar Police Seize 10,000 YABA Tablets Worth ₹3 Crore in Anti-Drug Operation
Desk Report, September 06, 2024: Cachar Police successfully intercepted a significant consignment of drugs in an operation conducted at Hawaithang, Lailapur in Assam’s Cachar District. A person traveling from a neighboring state in a vehicle was apprehended during the operation. Upon thorough inspection of the vehicle, the police uncovered 10,000 YABA tablets, a potent stimulant often trafficked across borders, valued at an estimated ₹3 crore.
This interception marks another victory in Assam’s ongoing fight against the narcotics trade. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to the social media platform ‘X’ to praise the efforts of the police force, stating, “Good job @assampolice #AssamAgainstDrugs.”
The accused has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the trafficking network. Authorities continue to monitor transit points and coordinate with agencies to ensure that the drug menace is tackled head-on.
This operation underscores the government’s commitment to creating a drug-free Assam, a vision reiterated by Chief Minister Sarma in several public addresses.
