Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Reviews Khel Maharan 2.0, PMAY 2.0, and Medical Education Reforms
Guwahati, September 08, 2024: In a series of high-level meetings, Assam’s Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed critical developments in various sectors, focusing on the upcoming Khel Maharan 2.0, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0, and advancements in medical education and research.
Chief Minister Sarma led a detailed review of the preparations for the much-anticipated Khel Maharan 2.0, a major sporting event in Assam. The meeting, held with the Sports Department, included Minister Nandita Gorlosa. Sarma emphasized building on the success of the first edition, instructing officials to ensure the event’s arrangements meet high standards and enhance public participation. The Chief Minister stressed that this edition should be a milestone in promoting youth engagement and sportsmanship in the state.
In another key meeting, Chief Minister Sarma reviewed the progress of the PMAY-G 2.0, an initiative aimed at providing housing for rural beneficiaries. Held in the presence of Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass and officials from the Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department, the meeting focused on finalizing the beneficiary list and preparing for the release of the first installment of 2024-25 funds, set to be disbursed on September 15 by the Prime Minister’s Office. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure a smooth and hassle-free process for beneficiaries to receive their homes, further emphasizing the importance of adequate budgetary allocation and timely implementation.
In a third meeting, Chief Minister Sarma chaired a discussion with the Department of Medical Education and Research. The agenda centered on key issues affecting the sector’s growth and the overall welfare of Assam’s population. Sarma instructed officials to prioritize reforms that enhance both medical education and research, ensuring quality healthcare and training opportunities for future medical professionals. The meeting concluded with directives for the swift implementation of initiatives to strengthen medical institutions and research capabilities across the state.
These back-to-back meetings underscore Chief Minister Sarma’s commitment to public welfare through the advancement of sports, housing, and healthcare sectors in Assam.
