In a significant operation, the Police Officials in Gossaigaon have successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign liquor across state borders. The incident unfolded in Srirampur on the Assam-Bengal border within the Gossaigaon Sub-Division.
A vigilant police team, led by Officer-In-Charge of Simultaphu Police Station Sanjay Kumar Roy, intercepted a truck (BR 06 G 8732) bound for West Bengal on NH-31 in Srirampur. The officers discovered a concealed compartment in the vehicle containing a substantial quantity of foreign liquor.
The seized truck, along with the illicit cargo, was enroute from Meghalaya to Baishali in Bihar. The driver, Mahesh Roy, and the handyman, Naresh Roy, both residents of Bihar, were promptly apprehended by the police.
This successful operation underscores the efforts of law enforcement in curbing the smuggling of luxury goods. Authorities are now focused on unraveling the entire network behind this illegal operation, ensuring a thorough investigation into the matter.
