Assam Government Announces Major Reshuffle in Forest Department
Guwahati, September 16, 2024: The Assam Government has issued a notification announcing a major reshuffle in the Environment and Forests Department, aimed at improving public service and enhancing the management of forest and wildlife resources. The transfers involve several senior officials from the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and Assam Forest Service (AFS).
– Shri Rohini Ballave Saikia, IFS, previously serving as the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kamrup East Division, Guwahati, has been transferred as Deputy Conservator of Forests in the office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Assam. He replaces Shri Sheridhar Reddy, IFS, who has now been posted as Deputy Director of Manas Tiger Reserve.
– Shri Golap Kumar Bania, AFS, who was the Deputy Conservator of Forests (Publicity) in the office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Assam, has been appointed as the Divisional Forest Officer, Baksa Forest Division, replacing Shri Ranjit Konwar, AFS. Konwar will now assume Bania’s former role as Deputy Conservator of Forests (Publicity).
– Smti Dimpi Bora, IFS, who was the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kamrup West Division, Bamunigaon, has been transferred to the position of Director of Assam Forest School, Jalukbari. She replaces Shri Monoj Kr. Goswami, AFS, who has been appointed as Divisional Forest Officer, Lakhimpur Division.
– Shri Ashok Dev Choudhury, AFS, formerly the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Lakhimpur Division, has been transferred as the Divisional Forest Officer of Kamrup East Division, Guwahati, succeeding Shri Rohini Ballave Saikia.
– Shri Subodh Talukdar, AFS, previously the Deputy Director of Manas Tiger Reserve, has been appointed as the new Divisional Forest Officer, Kamrup West Division, Bamunigaon, replacing Smti Dimpi Bora.
This reshuffle reflects the Assam Government’s efforts to strengthen forest governance and conservation efforts in key ecological areas such as Kamrup, Baksa, and the Manas Tiger Reserve. The officers are expected to take charge of their new roles immediately to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
The notification was issued by the Environment and Forests Department, Dispur, under the authority of the Governor of Assam.
