Mankachar Police Detain Five Bangladeshi Nationals at Assam-Meghalaya Border
Hathsingimari, September 16, 2024: In Mankachar, five Bangladeshi nationals were detained late last night. The arrests occurred on Mirjumla Road, situated on the Assam-Meghalaya border. The Mankachar police conducted a naka check, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
Among those detained, three were women and two were men. The individuals had crossed into India from the Daloo region in Meghalaya. The group was traveling to Mankachar in a Tempo vehicle with the registration number AS 17 C 3808.
The arrest took place around 9 PM during a routine naka search. The detained individuals have been identified as Akash Hussain, Shafiqul Mondal, Sabina Aftan, Santa Begum, and Pinky Akhtara.
South Salmara-Mankachar’s Superintendent of Police has arrived at the Mankachar police station to oversee the investigation. Further interrogation of the detainees is underway to determine their motives and connections.
