Over 25,000 Entrepreneurs in Assam to Receive ₹75,000 Financial Aid Under CMAAA Scheme on September 30
Guwahati: The Government of Assam is set to take a major step in empowering youth entrepreneurs by distributing the first tranche of financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) on September 30, 2024. More than 25,000 selected young entrepreneurs from across the state will receive a sum of ₹75,000 each, marking a significant initiative to boost self-reliance and entrepreneurship in Assam.
The grand distribution ceremony will be held at the Veterinary College Field, Khanapara, Guwahati, with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma presiding as the Chief Guest. The event will also feature the presence of Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises, along with other dignitaries.
This initiative, under the CMAAA, is a part of the Assam Government’s comprehensive plan to foster entrepreneurship among the state’s youth. By providing financial assistance ranging from ₹2,00,000 to ₹5,00,000, the CMAAA aims to reduce unemployment and create a favorable environment for young individuals to establish and expand their businesses. The selected candidates will not only receive financial support but also benefit from training, mentorship, and access to market opportunities to help them grow into successful entrepreneurs.
The financial aid will be disbursed in three stages:
First Tranche: On September 30, 2024, each selected entrepreneur will receive ₹75,000.
Second Tranche: A sum of ₹25,000 will be released upon completion of three days of training.
Last Tranche: The final tranche, up to ₹1,00,000, will be provided based on the progress of the entrepreneur’s business.
Entrepreneurs with professional qualifications, such as Engineering, MBBS, or BDS, will receive higher financial support, with amounts totaling up to ₹5,00,000, including subsidies and grants. This initiative demonstrates the Assam Government’s commitment to encouraging and nurturing talent across different professional backgrounds.
The scheme covers various districts, with a diverse range of entrepreneurial sectors receiving attention. The selected 25,238 entrepreneurs represent different industries, including agriculture, packaging, fabrication, fisheries, and self-employment after professional courses.
Some of the key highlights include:
Highest Number of Selected Entrepreneurs: Nagaon district with 1,404 participants.
Diverse Sectoral Representation: Agriculture & Horticulture, Packaging, Poultry/Dairy, Fisheries, Wood-based industries, and more.
Support for Skill-Based Enterprises: The scheme encourages skill-based employment, including carpentry, tailoring, hardware fabrication, and bamboo craft.
The Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) is expected to significantly impact Assam’s economy by fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among young citizens. With an overall budget of ₹510 crore allocated for this scheme, the government aims to create a conducive ecosystem for innovation, job creation, and sustainable growth.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “By providing financial assistance, training, and market access, this scheme is focused on empowering youth to become self-reliant. We are confident that the young entrepreneurs will play a pivotal role in transforming Assam’s economy.”
The government emphasizes that this event is a crucial step towards realizing the goal of an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) Assam, as it aims to provide young entrepreneurs with the tools and resources needed to succeed in their respective ventures.
The distribution of the first tranche under the CMAAA scheme represents a broader vision of the Assam Government to build a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports young talents, generates employment, and stimulates the state’s economic development.
