Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth Over ₹8 Crore in Multiple Anti-Narcotics Operations
In a series of anti-narcotics operations, Assam Police have successfully seized drugs valued at over ₹8 crore. Acting on credible intelligence, the police carried out targeted actions in Biswanath and Cachar districts, resulting in major recoveries.
The Biswanath Police intercepted a suspicious vehicle at a checkpoint on NH15. Upon inspection, the authorities found a large consignment of 314 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth ₹1.57 crore. The vehicle and contraband were immediately seized, marking a significant success in the ongoing fight against drug smuggling in the region.
Simultaneously, two separate operations were conducted by Cachar Police in Silchar and Ramnagar. These operations led to the recovery of 572 grams of heroin and 10,000 YABA tablets. The total value of the seized drugs is approximately ₹7 crore. In connection with the seizure, one individual has been apprehended, and further investigations are underway.
These operations highlight the ongoing efforts of Assam Police to curb drug trafficking and ensure the safety of the community. The prompt actions and coordination between different police units have resulted in significant breakthroughs in the state’s anti-narcotics campaign.
The seized drugs, now in police custody, will be presented as evidence in court proceedings. Authorities continue to intensify their efforts to dismantle smuggling networks operating in the region.
