Sandeep Kumar Appointed Head of Forests and Principal Chief Conservator in Assam
Guwahati: The Government of Assam has officially appointed Sandeep Kumar, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer from the 1989 batch, as the new Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forests Force for the state of Assam. This appointment comes following the retirement of Rajpal Singh, IFS, who served the department until his retirement on October 31, 2024.
Sandeep Kumar, previously serving as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden of Assam, will assume his new role immediately upon taking charge. This promotion elevates him to the Apex Scale of the Indian Forest Service at Level 17 in the pay matrix, in alignment with the IFS (Pay) Rules, 2016.
The Environment and Forest Department, led by the Secretary to the Government of Assam, issued the official notification from Dispur. The notice further detailed necessary procedural updates to the state’s accounts and relevant departments, marking a seamless transition in Assam’s forest leadership.
This strategic appointment reflects Assam’s ongoing commitment to forest conservation and sustainable management, entrusted to the expertise of IFS officers like Kumar.
