Desk Report, January 27, 2024 – In a Republic Day declaration, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria asserted on Friday that the state is unwaveringly moving forward on the path of progress and tranquility, attributing this success to two pivotal peace accords inked last year. Speaking at the Republic Day ceremony in Guwahati, he underscored the significant strides made in settling border disputes with neighboring states, citing it as a crucial milestone for Assam.
Highlighting the government’s dedication to public welfare through various schemes, Governor Kataria emphasized the inseparable link between peace and development. He highlighted the banning of the organization, along with the arrest of its leaders and those of the Students’ Front of India. Several Bangladesh-based fundamentalist organizations were also reportedly dismantled in the state.
The governor acknowledged the intensified crackdown on child marriages initiated the previous year, expressing the government’s goal to eradicate this issue entirely by 2026. He emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance stance against corruption, leading to actions taken against multiple officials.
In addition to these developments, Governor Kataria outlined various government initiatives across sectors such as health, education, employment generation, citizen services, sports, and the environment.
