Fake CBI Officer Arrested in Guwahati: Basistha Police Uncover Impersonation Scam
Guwahati: In a significant crackdown on impersonation crimes, a team from Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District arrested Prasanta Bordoloi, for posing as a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer. The arrest took place near Nakshatra Hotel in Beltola, Guwahati, after Bordoloi was reportedly caught using fake identification documents.
Bordoloi, a resident of Morigaon, was found carrying forged IDs that falsely presented him as a CBI or Indian Police Service (IPS) official. His strategy involved using these fake IDs to deceive and extort money from unsuspecting individuals. Authorities also seized two mobile phones from him, believed to have been used in his fraudulent activities.
This arrest highlights the ongoing vigilance of Guwahati police in curbing criminal impersonation and protecting citizens. The accused is now in police custody, facing further investigation.
