Assam Police Foil Infiltration Attempt, Apprehend Two Near Karimganj Border
In a swift operation, Assam Police prevented an illegal infiltration attempt near the India-Bangladesh border in Karimganj district. The incident occurred along the highly sensitive international boundary. Two Bangladeshi nationals, identified as Jahanara Begum and Maskand Ali, were apprehended during the operation.
Officials acted promptly upon detecting suspicious activity near the border. After questioning the individuals, authorities confirmed their illegal entry into Indian territory. Following due procedure, the infiltrators were pushed back into Bangladesh.
Acknowledging the vigilance of the police, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his appreciation on social media. He wrote on his ‘X’ handle, “Team Assam Police is alert 24/7 to thwart any infiltration attempt.” His statement underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding the state’s borders.
Assam Police have intensified their operations along the border areas to prevent cross-border infiltration. Enhanced surveillance, regular patrols, and advanced monitoring equipment ensure round-the-clock security.
