Assam Forest Officials Foil Poaching Attempt Near Nameri National Park, Seize Gun and Ammunition
Chariduar Range Office staff of the Assam Forest Department successfully thwarted a poaching attempt near Nameri National Park. Acting on intelligence, officials seized a handmade gun and ammunition on the bank of the Jia Bharali River at Rihajuli. The area falls under the Balipara Reserve Forest.
The operation was carried out to prevent suspected poachers from entering the protected forest. Officials believe the individuals aimed to target wildlife in the ecologically sensitive park. However, the suspects managed to escape during the raid.
Authorities have launched an extensive search to apprehend the culprits. The seized firearm and ammunition will undergo further investigation to trace their origins and links to potential poaching networks.
