STF Assam Busts Drug Smuggling Network, Seizes Heroin Worth Lakhs in Kamrup and Guwahati
Guwahati: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam conducted two successful anti-drug operations, leading to the seizure of 206.41 grams of heroin and the arrest of three suspects. The operations, carried out in Kamrup and Guwahati, dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks in the state.
In the first operation, acting on a tip-off, an STF team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (STF) and Kamrup, Kalyan Kr Pathak, intercepted a vehicle at Amingaon in Kamrup district. Upon searching, officers discovered 13 soap boxes containing heroin, weighing 182 grams. The vehicle was seized, and two individuals were apprehended on the spot.
The second operation, based on source information, was led by Inspector Kapil Pathak of the STF. The team raided a location in Khanapara, under Dispur Police Station in Guwahati. During the raid, one person was arrested, and 18 vials of heroin, weighing 24.41 grams, were recovered. Authorities also seized two mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash from the suspect.
Both operations highlight the STF’s commitment to tackling the rising menace of drug trafficking in Assam. The arrested individuals are under police custody, and further investigations are underway to identify the supply chain and other involved parties.
