Guwahati Police Busts Cattle Smuggling Operation; Truck Intercepted, One Arrested
Guwahati: In a swift operation, the Jorabat Outpost team of Basistha Police Station, Guwahati, intercepted a pickup truck suspected of cattle smuggling. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS 19 A 6276, was stopped at Jorabat Crossing while transporting 10 live cattle towards Byrnihat.
The police arrested the driver, identified as Saha Ali, from Abhyapuri. The cattle were reportedly being smuggled for illegal trade purposes. The authorities have taken custody of the animals and initiated legal proceedings against the suspect.
This action underscores the ongoing efforts of Guwahati Police to curb illegal activities, especially those involving cattle smuggling. The incident has also raised awareness of the need for stricter checks on interstate routes prone to smuggling activities.
