Guwahati Police Bust Veteran Bike-Lifting Gang; Multiple Stolen Bikes Recovered Across Assam and Meghalaya
Guwahati: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operation Group of West Guwahati Police District, along with the Gorchuk Police Station team, apprehended three veteran bike lifters. Acting on a tip-off, the joint team arrested Md Abdul Hanif Sheikh from Dhubri, Md Rafiq Ali from Boko, and Md Jakir Hussain from Baghbor.
Following interrogation, the police recovered two Yamaha R15 bikes in Jowai, Meghalaya. During this operation, three receivers, Dibormi Amrynsong, Tunadahun Matra, and Rimki Suchiag, all hailing from West Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya, were arrested on the spot.
Additionally, three more stolen bikes—two Royal Enfield motorcycles and one Bajaj Avenger—were recovered from Muktapur, Meghalaya, near the international border. The recovery followed crucial leads obtained during the investigation.
The police also seized various tools used in the thefts, including three master keys, an iron cutter, and other lock-breaking equipment.
This operation underscores the commitment of Guwahati to curb organized crime and protect public property.
