Assam Approves New SoP for Aadhaar Enrolment: Key Features Highlighted
Guwahati: In a move to ensure authenticity in Aadhaar enrolment, the Assam Cabinet has approved a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP). This new policy aims to streamline the Aadhaar enrolment process under the State Government Portal.
Key Features of the SoP
1. Nodal Department Designation:
The General Administration Department (GAD) will oversee the implementation of this SoP.
2. Document Verification Timeline:
The state government will verify documents and submit them to UIDAI within 45 days.
3. Administrative Oversight:
Additional District Commissioners will supervise enrolment verifications at the district level. Meanwhile, Circle Officers will handle checks at the Revenue Circle level.
4. NRC-Based Verification:
Inspection officers appointed by Circle Officers will verify if applicants have applied for the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
5. Residency Confirmation:
Officials will confirm whether the applicant resides at the address mentioned in the submitted documents.
6. Government Employees’ Exemption:
NRC verification requirements will not apply to government officers working in the state.
