Heroin and YABA Tablets Worth ₹20 Crore Recovered in Assam’s Silchar Anti-Narcotics Operation
In a major anti-narcotics operation, drugs valued at ₹20 crore were seized in Silchar. Acting on reliable information regarding the transportation of suspected narcotics, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police and Cachar Police conducted a joint operation at Sildubi Silcoorie Road under Silchar Police Station.
The operation, led by Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IPS, Inspector General of Police (STF), resulted in the apprehension of Sahil Ahmed Laskar, a resident of Kabuganj, Nasirgram Part 3, Sonai. Laskar was intercepted while carrying the contraband on a Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number AS 11 AA 9625.
During the search, authorities recovered 125 grams of heroin packed in 10 soapboxes and 60,000 YABA tablets. These drugs were concealed in the motorcycle. The contraband was seized in the presence of independent witnesses to ensure transparency.
The estimated street value of the seized items in the black market is around ₹20 crore. Officials have stated that further legal proceedings are underway, and efforts are being made to trace the wider network involved in this illegal trade.
This successful operation highlights the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety.
