GP Singh Appointed as New CRPF Director General by Central Government

The Central Government has appointed Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, as the new Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The announcement was made through an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions.

The order confirmed that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs. GP Singh, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will assume his new role as Director General of CRPF.

Singh will serve at Level 16 of the pay matrix, effective from the date he takes charge. His tenure will continue until his superannuation on November 30, 2027, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.

GP Singh has been Assam’s DGP since January 2023, earning recognition for his leadership and contributions to law enforcement. His extensive experience and commitment to public service make him a suitable choice for leading the CRPF, one of India’s largest paramilitary forces.
