Assam CM Strengthens Global Ties with Diplomats from Korea, Japan, Italy, and EU

Guwahati; February 26, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma recently engaged in a series of diplomatic meetings, reinforcing Assam’s global partnerships. His discussions focused on economic cooperation, cultural exchange, and investment opportunities across various sectors.

During his meeting with Lee Seong-Ho, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, the Chief Minister emphasized the significance of Advantage Assam 2.0. This initiative aims to enhance economic collaboration and strengthen ties between India and Korea. Both leaders explored new avenues for mutual growth.

Earlier, Dr. Sarma also met Keiichi Ono, the Ambassador of Japan. Their discussions revolved around expanding bilateral cooperation, with Assam positioned as a key player in fostering economic and cultural ties. Advantage Assam 2.0 is expected to play a vital role in deepening India-Japan relations.

In another important interaction, the Chief Minister held talks with Antonio Bartoli, the Ambassador of Italy. Their discussions covered potential collaborations in IT, energy, and waste management. Assam seeks to attract global investments in these key sectors.

Additionally, Dr. Sarma met Hervé Delphin, the Ambassador of the European Union. He assured the EU of Assam’s commitment to facilitating European investments in the region. The talks highlighted Assam’s growing role as an investment hub in India.

Meanwhile, members of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) showed strong interest in Assam’s EV, AI, and data sectors. This reflects the state’s increasing appeal to global investors in emerging technologies.

With these diplomatic engagements, Assam continues to expand its presence on the global stage, driving economic growth and fostering international partnerships.
