Traffic Diversion Announced in Guwahati for Flyover Construction Near Downtown Hospital

Guwahati Traffic Advisory: Vehicle Diversion on GS Road from March 3 Due to Flyover Construction

Guwahati; March 02, 2025: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Guwahati, has issued an advisory regarding major traffic diversions on GS Road. The changes, effective from midnight of March 3, 2025, will facilitate the construction of a steel girder for the flyover near Downtown Hospital.

The diversion aims to ensure public safety, particularly for vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals. It will also provide an unobstructed route for emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire tenders.

The restrictions will be in effect daily from 11:30 PM to 4:30 AM until the completion of construction. The following are the major changes:

  1. Complete Traffic Restriction on GS Road: All vehicles will be prohibited from using GS Road between Six Mile Flyover and Downtown during the designated hours.
  2. Routes for Khanapara to VIP Road/Panjabari Road/Jayanagar: Vehicles from Khanapara heading towards these locations can use the service road of Six Mile Flyover as usual.
  3. Routes for Khanapara to Dispur: Vehicles traveling from Khanapara to Dispur must take Jayanagar Road – Beltola Bazar Road – Beltola Survey Road – Last Gate, using the Six Mile Flyover service lane.
  4. Routes for Panjabari to Dispur: Vehicles from Panjabari towards Dispur must also use the Jayanagar Road – Beltola Bazar Road – Beltola Survey Road – Last Gate.
  5. Routes for Sachal/Ananda Nagar to Dispur: Vehicles from these areas should follow the Jayanagar Road – Beltola Bazar Road – Beltola Survey Road – Last Gate route.
  6. Rukminigaon/Rukmininagar to Dispur: Vehicles from these localities must either take the Beltola Survey Road or the GNRC Dispur Road.
  7. Jayanagar to Dispur: Vehicles from Jayanagar must take Beltola Bazar Road – Beltola Survey Road.
  8. Vehicles from Ganeshguri to Khanapara will be diverted at Super Market Flyover towards Last Gate and must take the Beltola-Basistha Road.
  9. Vehicles from Ganeshguri to Downtown/Six Mile can use the Super Market Flyover service road and go via Downtown Bylane – Dwarka Path – Ananda Nagar Path.
  10. Vehicles from Last Gate to Downtown can also use the Super Market Flyover service road and Downtown Bylane.
  11. No vehicles from major bylanes (Purbanchal Path, Sun Valley Bylane, Downtown Bylane) will be allowed on GS Road. Alternative routes include Dwarka Path – Ananda Nagar Path for Six Mile and Hengrabari Road – Swahid Dilip Hujuri Path for Dispur.
  12. No vehicles from Tongra Satra Road, Lakshmi Mandir Path, or Rukminigaon Bylane will be permitted on GS Road. They must use Beltola Survey Road or GNRC Dispur Road.
  13. Vehicles from Downtown to Khanapara should take VIP Road via Sachal/Ananda Nagar and continue via GS Road.
  14. Vehicles from Downtown to Dispur must take Hengrabari Road or Swahid Dilip Hujuri Path.

The Guwahati Traffic Police have urged citizens to adhere to these diversions and cooperate for a smoother traffic flow. The measures are intended for public safety and to ensure minimal disruption during the flyover construction.
