Assam Civilian Awards 2024: Honoring Excellence in Various Fields
Guwahati; March 10, 2025: The Assam government has announced the prestigious Assam Civilian Awards 2024, recognizing individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions in various fields. The awards are divided into three categories: Assam Baibhav, Assam Saurav, and Assam Gaurav.
The highest civilian honor, Assam Baibhav, was conferred upon Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita (Retd.) for his distinguished service to the nation. The former Army officer has been honored for his exceptional leadership and dedication to national security.
The Assam Saurav award, the second-highest civilian recognition, was awarded to six distinguished individuals:
- Shri Subramanian Ramadorai
- Dr. Bappi Paul
- Dr. Purabi Saikia
- Shri Dwipen Baruah
- Shri Hemanta Dutta
- Smt. Uma Chetry
These individuals have excelled in fields ranging from education and healthcare to sports and social service.
The Assam Gaurav award was presented to several individuals for their remarkable contributions to society:
- Smt. Phuleswari Dutta
- Smt. Meenakshi Das
- Shri Parthib Sundar Gogoi
- Shri Dhirendra Nath Paul
- Shri Haridas Das
- Shri Binong Teron
- Shri Nazrul Hoque
- Shri Biswajit Bora
- Shri Bharat Kalita
- Shri Barlangfa Narzary
- Shri Ram Sasoni
- Shri Upamanyu Borkakoty
- Shri David Pratim Gogoi
Additionally, institutions and communities were also recognized under this category:
- Choran Ahem
- Barekuri Village
- Hati Bondhu NGO
