Assam Cabinet Approves Vivanta Guwahati Expansion and ₹21.52 Crore for MSME Development
Guwahati; March 10, 2025: In a significant move to boost tourism and local economic development, the Assam Cabinet has approved key initiatives, including the expansion of Vivanta Guwahati and financial support for MSMEs.
The Cabinet has allotted land to the Tourism Department to facilitate the expansion and upgradation of Vivanta Guwahati, a premier luxury hotel. This decision aims to enhance hospitality infrastructure and attract more tourists to the region. By upgrading the hotel, the government intends to strengthen Assam’s position as a top destination for travelers and business conferences.
Additionally, the Cabinet has sanctioned ₹21.52 crore under the SIDBI Cluster Development Fund to support projects promoting balanced economic growth. This funding is directed towards strengthening Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which play a crucial role in Assam’s economic landscape. The initiative is expected to improve employment opportunities and foster sustainable development in various sectors, including handicrafts and manufacturing.
