NDA Sweeps Rabha Hasong Council Polls with 33 Seats, Congress Wins Only One

NDA Registers Landslide Victory in Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Elections, Wins 33 of 36 Seats
Guwahati; April 05, 2025: In a major political win, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has swept the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections. The NDA secured 33 out of the 36 seats, showcasing a strong mandate from voters. Congress could only win one seat, while two seats went to independent candidates.
This outcome marks a major setback for the Congress, which failed to gain public confidence. The results confirm NDA’s growing dominance in the region, especially across the Rabha Hasong areas.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tankeswar Rabha has retained his seat with a large margin. He contested from the No. 7 South Dudhnoi constituency. Representing the Rabha Hasong Joint Struggle Committee (RHJM), he faced Congress candidate Sanjib Rabha.
Tankeswar Rabha won with a margin of 5,568 votes. He received 7,161 votes, while his rival managed only 1,593 votes. His clear victory strengthens his political grip in the council.
The Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council comprises 36 constituencies. Of these, 20 fall under the Goalpara district and 16 under the Kamrup district. Voter turnout remained high across both regions, indicating strong public engagement in local governance.
With this victory, the NDA has further expanded its influence in Assam’s autonomous bodies. The results also reflect a growing shift in political preferences within tribal areas. So, it’s evident that the voters have backed the NDA’s leadership and vision for regional development.
