Guwahati Police Bust Human Trafficking Racket, Rescue Two Women and Foil Kidnapping Attempt
Guwahati; April 08, 2025: A major human trafficking racket was busted by the Guwahati Police during a swift and strategic operation. The action was carried out by the Basistha Police Station team after receiving credible intelligence.
During the operation, two women were rescued from different locations. One woman, aged 22, was from Ghograpar, while the second, aged 20, from Goroimari. The younger victim is also the sister of the 22-year-old woman. Police also successfully prevented the kidnapping of another woman during the operation.
Three suspects have been arrested. They have been identified as Naimuddin Ali (30) and Jahidul Islam (30), both residents of Bagbar, and Innas Ali (30) from Alupatishor, Barpeta.
As per police sources, Naimuddin Ali had planned to sell the two rescued women in West Bengal. Shockingly, one of the victims was his own wife, and the other was her sister. He allegedly aimed to sell each for ₹2,00,000. Authorities also revealed that he attempted to traffic another woman named Momtaz, with support from his associates.
The police have initiated legal proceedings against the arrested trio. Further investigation is underway to uncover the full scope of the trafficking network and identify more people involved.
