Desk Report, February 03, 2024: Guwahati Traffic Police has unveiled a set of comprehensive traffic restrictions in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming two-day visit to Assam. The measures are designed to ensure public safety, particularly for vulnerable road users, during the Prime Minister’s visit, where he is scheduled to inaugurate various developmental projects and address a public rally at Khanapara Veterinary College grounds on February 3.
The following traffic restrictions will be implemented on February 3rd and 4th, 2024:
1. Commercial goods carrying vehicles on NH-27 and NH-17 within Guwahati City will be restricted from 2 PM to 11 PM on February 3rd and from 4 AM to 6 PM on February 4th.
2. Restrictions on G.S. Road, Panjabari Road, B. Barooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, AT Road, and DG Road will be in place from 2 PM to 10 PM on February 3rd.
3. On February 4th, commercial goods carrying vehicles (3 wheels and above) will face restrictions on G.S. Road, Panjabari Road, Sixmile-Narengi Road, Tripura (Gali) Road, Beltola Bazar Road, and Beltola-Basistha Road from 5 AM to 6 PM.
4. The movement of ASTC Buses/City Buses will be regulated based on the traffic scenario in the city.
5. No restrictions will be imposed on the movement of emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire tenders on both February 3rd and 4th.
These measures are implemented to facilitate the seamless movement of emergency vehicles and ensure public safety during the Prime Minister’s visit. The Guwahati Traffic Police urges the public to cooperate and strictly adhere to the specified restrictions for a secure and orderly environment throughout this significant event.
