Morigaon, February 20, 2024: In a sweeping move against illicit activities, the Forest Department took decisive action today, demolishing two illegal saw mills in Jaluguti and Azarbari areas of Morigaon district.Under the vigilant leadership of Forest Range Officer Robin Baishya, these targeted operations were carried out in line with the directives from Morigaon District Commissioner. Over the past few months, the department has successfully dismantled approximately 20 illegal saw mills across different parts of Morigaon district.
Preceding today’s actions, the Forest Department, led by their dedicated officials, conducted raids in various locations within the district. Areas such as Moirabari, Lahorighat, Treeguri, Manipuritop, Satgaon, among others, were scrutinized to identify and crackdown on illegal saw mills. This intensified effort comes as a response to the directives issued during the January 30 meeting of the Morigaon District Development Committee, chaired by District Commissioner Debasish Sarma.
