Silchar, February 23, 2024: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Cachar Police, acting on credible intelligence, successfully intercepted a suspect in Dholai. The apprehension yielded a staggering discovery of 30 soap boxes and 4 leather bags, containing an estimated 4.765 kilograms of suspected heroin. The illicit substances are believed to have been transported from a neighboring state.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, taking to the microblogging site X on February 23, lauded the efforts of the Assam Police in the operation. Valued at a whopping Rs 24 crore, the seized drugs mark a crucial win in the fight against narcotics. The Cachar Police, in an early morning operation, showcased their efficiency and commitment to curbing the drug trade.
