Operation Unveiled: Police Seize Bolero Van Carrying Nine Smuggled Cows, Culprits Apprehended
Emili Sultana, Agomani, March 01, 2024: In a gripping turn of events, Police seized a Bolero pick-up van carrying nine smuggled cows at Kaldoba, under the jurisdiction of Agomani Police Station in Dhubri district. The late-night operation on February 29 led to the arrest of Rahmat Ali and Ali Hussain, both allegedly involved in the illicit transportation.
The smuggled cattle, concealed under a layer of straw, were reportedly en route to Gauripur from a neighboring state, utilizing covert village roads to evade detection. The Bolero pick-up van, bearing registration number AS 17 C 5576, drew attention when Golakganj police received intelligence about its suspicious cargo.
Upon receiving the alert, Golakganj police ordered the vehicle to halt. However, the driver brazenly ignored the directive and attempted to flee towards West Bengal. Agomani Police swiftly responded by setting up barricades to block the route back to Bengal.
Undeterred, the driver accelerated, forcefully breaking through the police barricade. Tragically, a collision occurred with a biker heading towards Bengal through Kaldoba. The injured biker, identified as Bakul Rai, was rushed to Agomani Hospital for medical attention.

As tensions escalated, an enraged mob intercepted the Bolero pick-up van, demanding accountability for the severe injury inflicted on the innocent biker. Agomani Police arrived promptly on the scene and apprehended both the driver and his accomplices, Rahmat Ali and Ali Hussain.
The subsequent search of the van revealed the hidden contraband – nine smuggled cows concealed beneath the layer of straw. Authorities promptly seized both the smuggled cattle and the Bolero pick-up van.
Bakul Rai’s condition is reported as critical, and he continues to receive medical care at Agomani CHC. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges authorities face in curbing illicit activities, with the perpetrators resorting to dangerous maneuvers to evade the law. The legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway as the community reflects on the broader implications of such clandestine operations.
