Two Smugglers Apprehended and 42 Buffalo Seized in Boxirhat Operation along Assam-Bengal Border
Agomani, March 08, 2024: In a significant crackdown, Boxirhat police in Cooch Behar District, West Bengal, seized 42 buffaloes and apprehended two smugglers operating at the Assam-Bengal border.
Earlier today, Police intercepted a container vehicle transporting the buffalo near Bhangapakri Checkpoint. The animals, en route from Dalkhola in Bihar to Assam, were seized by Boxirhat police for lack of valid documentation.
The arrested individuals, identified as Mozzafar, the container’s driver, and M.D Sur, the helper, both hail from Bihar. The duo was promptly taken into custody and presented before the Toofanganj Sub-Divisional court.
The Boxirhat police, in collaboration with other security agencies, executed the operation as part of their ongoing efforts to curb smuggling activities. The seized buffaloes are currently under the care of local authorities while legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
