Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee Suffers Injury, Admitted to Hospital
Desk Report, March 15, 2024: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sustained a significant injury as confirmed by the Trinamool Congress on Thursday, necessitating her admission to SSKM Hospital for treatment. Images released by the All India Trinamool Congress depict Banerjee on a hospital bed, bearing a deep cut on her forehead with visible blood on her face. According to Mamata Banerjee’s brother, Kartik Banerjee, the incident transpired when she fell at her residence in Kalighat following her attendance at an event in Ballygunge, South Kolkata.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern for Mamata Banerjee’s health, extending wishes for her swift recovery. State BJP President Sukanta Majumdar also conveyed hopes for her speedy recuperation, stating, “Wishing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with her for a quick return to good health,” in a social media post.

In a statement released on X, the party noted, “Our chairperson Mamata Banerjee sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers.”
Mamata Banerjee was observed being transported to the Neurosciences Department of the hospital in a wheelchair, with a bandage prominently displayed on her forehead. Following necessary medical assessments, the Chief Minister was subsequently taken to her residence, accompanied by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee and other family members.
