Northeast India Braces for Rainfall Till March 23: Meteorological Centre Issues Forecast
Desk Report, March 20, 2024: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) based in Guwahati has forecasted a spell of light to moderate rainfall across various parts of Northeast India until March 23. According to the latest weather report released by the RMC, Arunachal Pradesh is expected to experience light to moderate rain, while isolated areas in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may also witness light rain.
Additionally, the RMC has issued warnings of possible thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the forthcoming days.
The RMC’s observations indicate the presence of a trough extending from Jharkhand to southern Assam at an altitude of 0.9 km above sea level. Another trough, positioned along Long. 95°E to the north of Lat. 23°N at 3.1 km above sea level, is observed in the westerly direction. Furthermore, the cyclonic circulation over eastern Assam and its vicinity, located at 1.5 km above mean sea level, has shown signs of weakening.

In Guwahati, the weather outlook suggests partly cloudy skies with occasional spells of rain or thundershowers anticipated from March 20 to 23. However, residents should prepare for possible rain showers or thunderstorms on March 24 and 25.
