Ruturaj Gaikwad Assumes Captaincy of Chennai Super Kings, Succeeding MS Dhoni

Gaikwad’s ascent to the leadership role sees him taking over from the iconic MS Dhoni, who steered the team to five championship titles during his tenure, a feat jointly held with Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma.
Gaikwad, who joined CSK in 2020, has emerged as a pivotal figure within the team since 2019. His journey with CSK has seen him participate in 52 IPL matches, showcasing his prowess notably as a right-handed opener. Last season, he impressed with a formidable performance, amassing 590 runs across 16 games, boasting an impressive strike rate of 147.50.
