AAP Launches Social Media Campaign Over Kejriwal’s Arrest; Calls for Support in DP Change Movement
Desk Report, March 25, 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) started a social media campaign on Monday about Delhi’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, getting arrested in a case about the excise policy. Delhi’s minister and AAP member, Atishi, said that everyone in the party, including leaders and volunteers, changed their profile pictures on platforms like Twitter (now called X), Facebook, WhatsApp, and more. These pictures show Kejriwal behind bars with the words ‘Modi Ka Sabse Bada Dar Kejriwal’ on them.
Atishi spoke to the media and said, “Today, AAP is starting a ‘DP campaign’ on social media to share Arvind Kejriwal’s message with everyone in the country. From 3 pm, all AAP leaders and workers will change their profile pictures.” She also asked people to join this campaign. She said it’s important to change your picture to help “save the constitution and democracy” in India.
Atishi believes Kejriwal is the only leader who can challenge PM Modi. She questioned why Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate right after the Lok Sabha polls were announced. Atishi said, “The BJP made a fake case against Kejriwal and used the ED to arrest him. Why did this happen as soon as the election started?”
Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 because his name was in the chargesheets for the excise policy case many times. The ED called him for questioning nine times, but he didn’t go.
The chargesheet says that everyone involved in the excise policy case talked with the Delhi CM to make the policy. This policy gave them unfair benefits. In return, they gave money to the party.
On Monday, AAP leaders also decided not to celebrate the Holi festival to show their protest against Kejriwal’s arrest. Atishi wrote on X, “Holi isn’t just a festival. It’s about good winning over evil and justice over cruelty. Today, every AAP leader is fighting against this wrong and injustice. This year, we won’t play with colors or celebrate Holi.”
