Cachar Police Unveils LPG Theft Racket: Two Apprehended in Kalain
Silchar, March 30, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Cachar Police has dismantled a sophisticated racket involved in the pilferage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from gas tankers. The operation, conducted in Bihara Part-III, Kalain, resulted in the apprehension of two individuals identified as Mithun Orang and Arun Mahato, both residents of Bihara Part-III, within the jurisdiction of Kalain.
According to preliminary investigations, Orang and Mahato were found to be actively engaged in the illicit collection of loaded LPG cylinders from transport vehicles. Utilizing specialized equipment, they proceeded to siphon off the contents and clandestinely refill empty cylinders.

During the raid, Police officers seized a cache of evidence, including 10 LPG cylinders and 3 pieces of machinery believed to be integral to the illicit operation. The recovered items stand as crucial pieces of evidence as the investigation into the full extent of the racket’s activities continues.
