Rangia Police Apprehend Five Suspects in Fake Gold and Currency Smuggling Operation
Rangia, March 30, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, Rangia Police have apprehended five individuals allegedly involved in a clandestine operation of counterfeit gold and currency smuggling. Acting on special intelligence input, a coordinated raid led to the detention of the suspects at Subham Hotel, located on Rangia Station Road, under the cover of night.
During the meticulously executed operation, Police officials seized crucial evidence, including six mobile phones, a counterfeit gold ingot, a bundle of suspected fake currency, and a distinct red-colored Maruti Swift vehicle. The vehicle in question bears the registration number AS 01 FK 9901, which has been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shahidul Islam (24) hailing from Bihpuria, Sofiqul Islam (39) from Naobaisa, Abu Taher (33) from Laluk, Annas Ali (23) from Majergaon in Barpeta district, and Abdul Malek (26) from Mohkholi in Barpeta district.
