Major NDPS Substance Seizure in Cachar District: Two Peddlers Apprehended with Suspected Heroin
Silchar, April 02, 2024: In a significant operation against narcotics, the police intercepted a scooty bearing registration number AS 11 W 9984 at Gostala, Sonai in Cachar district today. Two suspected drug peddlers were apprehended, and a substantial amount of suspected heroin was seized from their possession.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Jabir Hussain Ahmed, a resident of Hatikhal Bazar, Cachar, and Makmodul Ahmed from Nutan Kanchanpur Pt. III, Cachar. Upon searching their vehicle, the police recovered 25 soap cases containing a substance suspected to be heroin, with an estimated weight of approximately 300 grams.
The seized narcotics have been securely sealed on the spot in the presence of independent witnesses. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
This operation marks another significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the region. The Cachar district police remain committed to taking strict action against individuals involved in illegal narcotics activities.
