Special Task Force Busts Fake Gold Racket in Gorchuk
Guwahati, April 04, 2024: In a resolute operation conducted under the jurisdiction of Gorchuk Police Station, a team of the Special Task Force, helmed by Inspector Kapil Pathak, successfully dismantled a sophisticated fake gold racket. The operation, executed with precision and determination, culminated in the apprehension of an individual found in possession of a significant quantity of suspected counterfeit gold, among other incriminating items.
The meticulously planned raid, initiated on the basis of credible intelligence, targeted the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) premises, a suspected hub of illicit trade in counterfeit gold. Acting swiftly on the reliable tip-off, the STF team descended upon the location, poised to disrupt the nefarious activities underway.
As a result of the meticulously executed operation, Special Task Force authorities were able to seize one boat-shaped piece of suspected fake gold, weighing approximately 1.489 kilograms. Additionally, the raid yielded two mobile phones, a nominal sum of Rs. 700 in cash, and the apprehension of an individual allegedly involved in the illicit trade.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Jakir Hussain Ali, hails from North Lakhimpur and stands implicated in connection with this elaborate scheme to peddle counterfeit gold within the region. The apprehension of Ali marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and safeguard the integrity of the precious metal market.
