Gauripur Police Bust IPL Betting Ring: Two Bookies Apprehended in Recent Raid
Gauripur, April 07, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Gauripur Police apprehended two individuals involved in IPL betting during a raid conducted in the Pokalagi and Oxiguri areas of Tamarhat, Gauripur.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Habibul Rahman Sheikh from Pokalagi village and Mizanur Rahman Al-Mamun from Oxiguri village. Along with the arrests, the police also seized three mobile phones believed to be crucial evidence in the case.
The operation was spearheaded by Town Sub-Inspector Bikash Pratim Mahanta of the Gauripur Police Station. Currently, the two suspects are undergoing interrogation by the Gauripur police to unearth further details about the alleged IPL betting racket.
It is noteworthy that allegations regarding the existence of a vast network of IPL gamblers have been circulating for some time. There have been claims suggesting the involvement of multiple individuals in the illicit betting syndicate.
Further investigations are underway to delve deeper into the matter and identify other potential culprits associated with the illegal IPL gambling activities.
