Assam Rifles Facilitates National Integration Tour for Sainik School Satara Cadets
Desk Report, April 09, 2024: Assam Rifles recently took 47 cadets and two teachers from Sainik School Satara, which included 10 girls, on a special trip to the North Eastern Region. This week-long trip from April 3 to April 10, 2024, aimed to help these cadets learn more about the North Eastern states.
The Assam Rifles team organized the tour. The main goal? To give the cadets a deeper understanding of the region. The cadets had the chance to visit the Assam Rifles Headquarters at Laitkor. Here, they met Lt. Gen PC Nair, the Director General of Assam Rifles, who is also an old student of their school.
The cadets got a big surprise during their visit to Assam Rifles House. The Assam Rifles Jazz Band played their school song ‘Hum Bharat Ke Chand Sitare’. The cadets loved it and felt really special. Meeting the Director General, who is an alumnus of their school, made the experience even more personal and meaningful.
Besides Laitkor, the cadets visited the War Memorial and the Assam Rifles Museum. They also went to Rai auditorium to watch a cultural show. Artists from different states performed, showing off the region’s rich culture.
The adventure didn’t stop there. The cadets explored more of Meghalaya, visiting places like Shillong Peak and Cherrapunji. From Shillong, they went to Dimapur. There, they visited the Assam Rifles Training Centre & School. They saw how the new recruits train.
The Sainik School Satara cadets also paid a visit to Sainik School Pungalwa in Nagaland. They were excited to meet other students and make new friends. From Dimapur, the cadets moved on to 7 Assam Rifles in Ghaspani. They chatted with the officers and soldiers and even watched another cultural show.
Interestingly, the Director General had once been a Company Commander at 7 Assam Rifles. The cadets then visited the Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (North). Here, they learned about the famous battle of Kohima through a lecture and demonstration. They also visited the Kohima War Cemetery and saw a display of weapons and a Pipe band performance.
During the tour, the cadets had a chance to talk with Maj Gen Manish Kumar, the Inspector General (North). Cadet Om Deelip Mane shared, “I feel really lucky to be on this National Integration tour. It has taught me a lot about the North Eastern states.” Cadet Yadnya Totawar thanked Assam Rifles for the amazing experience. He said, “Tours like this help us learn about different cultures and connect with others.”
The main aim of these National Integration Tours by Assam Rifles is to build a united and diverse society. They want to encourage respect and understanding among people from all backgrounds. These tours help students learn about different cultures and traditions, bringing people closer together.
The cadets were very thankful to Assam Rifles for organizing this unforgettable tour. It not only increased their knowledge but also left a deep impression on their hearts. The memories from this trip will remind them of the importance of unity in diversity and the beauty of being part of India’s rich mix of cultures.
Tours like this play an important role in promoting harmony, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging among the people of India. Through such initiatives, we are paving the way for a brighter future based on the principle of unity in diversity.
